I wonder if some of the Moroni’s soldiers grumbled about having to wear bulky clothing when he was given command of the armies of the Nephites at the age of 25, or did they all realize the benefit and blessing it would be for them? I can just imagine it, “This stuff is too hot and bulky. The Lamanites won’t be wearing this stuff. We’ll lose (ie. DIE) because we’ll wear ourselves out so much faster than they will.”
Sometimes God, through church leaders or circumstances, asks me to do things that test my strength of will. I need to remember that He asks me to do difficult or uncomfortable things because He is our loving Father who wants the best for me, and I need to muscle up (or kneel down) and do the hard thing.
“… Moroni, had prepared his people with breastplates and with arm-shields, yea, and also shields to defend their heads, and also they were dressed with thick clothing…” Alma 43:19 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/43?verse=19&lang=eng#p19
