I’m reading a really interesting book right now called, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote for Chaos, by Jordan Peterson. I’m not going to give an in-depth review here, but I love the intelligence of this book and the way that it makes me think and expand my perspective on a variety of things. I LOVE smart books, that make me smarter, and I LOVE books that use a broad vocabulary and have a witty sense of humor. This is a book I think my dad would have loved. It’s hard for me to give higher praise than that.
Someone asked me once if I liked having a calling and serving in the church. I said I did, because I liked knowing that I was helping to make a difference in the lives of other people, and that’s true, but there is also so much more depth to it.
Truly serving others is the best way to serve God. He loves his children and wants us to do the same.
“2 And now, I ask, what great blessings has he bestowed upon us? Can ye tell? 3 Behold, I answer for you; for our brethren, the Lamanites, were in darkness, yea, even in the darkest abyss, but behold, how many of them are brought to behold the marvelous light of God! And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made instruments in the hands of God to bring about this great work.” Alma 26:2–3 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/26?verse=2-3&lang=eng#p2
