It’s time for the community celebration! The carnival is up and running, and the food vendors are in place, and tomorrow morning I’m going to go watch the hot air balloon launch. I love those things! I forgot about the hot air balloons until I woke up this morning to see them in the sky above my house.
Today’s reading:
These people, the Lamanites, had been a very violent and warlike people. It was endemic to their culture. For them to lay down their weapons of rebellion, was a huge cultural shift. I wonder what sort of things would be my personal weapons of rebellion? Maybe there are things in the media I spend too much time on, or maybe it’s procrastinating doing something I know God wants me to do, or maybe it’s selfishness. There could actually be quite a few things. I guess the main thing is to just pick one and work on eliminating it, and then move on to the next.
“6 And as sure as the Lord liveth, so sure as many as believed, or as many as were brought to the knowledge of the truth, through the preaching of Ammon and his brethren, according to the spirit of revelation and of prophecy, and the power of God working miracles in them—yea, I say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away. 7 For they became a righteous people; they did lay down the weapons of their rebellion, that they did not fight against God any more, neither against any of their brethren.”
