Shake Off the Chains That Bind You

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

2 Nephi 1

This chapter is so full of the sincere pleading and exhortation of a concerned parent. Now, more than ever, I understand. It is so hard to see the pain that comes to those who fall captive to the traps of the Deceiver and the anguish it brings to their loving parents.

Also, I have to wonder, what chains would my Heavenly Father exhort me to shake off? Where is the weak spot in my armor? What is the best way to work with the Lord to make my weaknesses become strong? If all things have both a temporal and a spiritual aspect, what spiritual and physical actions or habits do I need to implement in order to become strong enough to withstand the personal weaknesses that beset me? So many questions.

2 Nephi 1

“23 Awake, my sons; put on the armor of righteousness. Shake off the chains with which ye are bound, and come forth out of obscurity, and arise from the dust.”
