Jazzed About NaNoWriMo

10 Minute Blog Post #3

Tickets to the big game!

Mr. Hot Stuff won tickets to the Jazz Game tonight. These are BIG DEAL tickets. General hobnobbing and dining with bigwigs of the Jazz management and other VIP types. It would have been fun to go with him, I’m sure, but I had a previous commitment with my ANWA Ladies (American Night Writers Association), who are awesome. The group was scheduled to meet at my house and I didn’t want to let them down. Besides, SOMEDAY this reluctant baby boy of Rainbow’s is going to decide to make his grand entry into the world and I don’t want to be stuck in Jazz traffic when it happens. So Mr. Hot Stuff took Miss Sassy’s husband, Mr. Sports to the game. As you might imagine, Mr. Sports was super excited for this, and I’m sure has had a blast the entire evening, even though the Jazz are currently trailing, with six minutes left in the game. I am certain this was a better use for that ticket than taking me.

Because, NaNoWriMo! Hello! I’ve been moving boxes all day to our new house and trying to figure out where I’m going to put everything. There’s a lot of storage space, but it’s configured so differently than what I’ve had for the last 13 years, that it’s a real puzzle. I may not be able to find things for months. I’m thinking I’ll put labels on the cupboard doors – little Post-It note stickers. It’s 9:15 PM and I still have 2000 words to write. It’s okay though, I took Excedrin and now my headache is easing up, so I should be able to get it done. Especially since the caffeine in that medicine will keep me awake half the night anyway. Maybe I’ll get tomorrow’s word count done, too!

The ANWA meeting was great. Tips and tricks for surviving and winning National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and helping a group member out with feedback on some pages of a book she’s been working on. Plus snacks, plus laughter, plus NaNoWriMo stickers (AWESOME! I might be a NaNo sticker-hoarder), plus more laughter.

This ten minutes has been all over the place. I blame exhaustion, headache, and headache medicine. Plus I broke a ton of writing rules, but it’s okay. That’s what November is all about. Plus, I forgot to start the timer, so I probably went longer than 10 minutes.

Toodles!
