Gratitude #1 – Sitting at the feet of the Savior.
This weekend has been the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is a wonderful time for members of the Church to hear inspired messages from our leaders intended to strengthen and encourage us to continue strong in our faith in Jesus Christ. For me, I get a sense of what it might have been to sit with Mary and Martha at the feet of the Savior and learn important spiritual truths. My soul is fed, and my spiritual thirst is quenched.
Gratitude #2 – Birds fly home to visit.
Miss Electric visited us this weekend. It’s a long drive to our house from Rexburg, ID and I appreciate that she wants to make it. Mr. T and his wife, Bird Lady, came down to visit as well. This weekend we’ve had a houseful of family and it’s been wonderful.
Gratitude #3 – Family time.
Mr. Hot Stuff’s sister flew into town for a few days. It was so good to be able to see her and have a pot-luck get-together where we could all visit together and play with her grand-babies and the nephew-baby and see other nieces and nephews we don’t get to see as often. My how the family multiplies so quickly. It’s wonderful. Noisy, but wonderful. 🙂
Gratitude #4 – The beauty of ordinary things.
This week I took my camera out for a stolen hour of photo-exploration. I went down by the lake and refreshed my appreciation for the beauty of what I often think of as ordinary things. Sometimes I need the reminder that it’s all in how we take the time to see.
Gratitude #5 – Rain.
Yes, the rain has limited my outdoor opportunities. It’s been cold and gray, and I miss the sun, but I so love the way the grass is getting greener and the tulips are starting to blossom. When you live in a dry climate, you come to really appreciate water in whatever form you can get it.
Gratitude #6 – Peace in my home.
One of the side benefits of General Conference is that it brings a strong sense of peace into my home. I love this. This song expresses my feelings well. (Plus, I love the sound of a men’s choir.)
Gratitude #7 – Arctic Boy’s Amazing Cookies
Arctic Boy made his amazing triple chocolate cookies. Dee-vine. What really makes them amazing though, is that he does the dishes afterward, so it’s like they just magically appeared.
Bonus Gratitude: When photos turn out beautifully.
winner-winner, veggie-dinner 🙂
