Oops I forgot to post yesterday. I was feeling sick with a sore throat, cough and headache. I asked for, and received a blessing, and managed to press onward for the most part.
We went to the top of Mt. Tabor in taxi shuttle busses. This is a possible site of the Mount of Transfiguration, I forgot to take my camera with me when we got off the bus here, so no photo. It was a short hike up to the top, but I it was a beautiful view from there.
We stopped for lunch at a Druze restaurant. The food was about the same as we’ve had everywhere else, except instead of shawarma they serve schnitzel in the pita. I haven’t said much about the food on this trip, but I am loving it. You can stick just about anything on a pita and I would love it. The only time I come close to complaining about the food is when there’s no pita served with the meal.
This place also had a unique washroom experience – rainbow toilet paper! As well as a new sort of paper towel holder.
Then we went on to Mt. Carmel where Elijah challenged the priests of Baal to a God duel, and won. (Man, oh man, nothing timid about THAT guy!) Seriously the story is epic and worth a read. The link below will get you to the chapter, but read the whole thing so you can appreciate the context.
17 ¶ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? 18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim. 19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

We visited Megido (also known as Armageddon), but by this point my head was really pounding so I stayed in the gift shop and bought a new hat.
We spent the night at The Haddad Resort Hotel in the West Bank. This place is pretty neat, but we aren’t staying long enough to really enjoy all it has to offer.
When you come to Israel, be sure to get a Palestinian bus driver. He will make your life so much safer and easier! Of course, not everyone can be Alam, he’s amazing, but going through checkpoints into Palestinian territories and knowing the best and safe areas is much easier for a Palestinian. I have never once felt threatened or endangered on this trip, and the Palestinians have been very kind and hospitable to us. It also helps that we are a Mormon group traveling together. Both the Jews and the Muslims here seem to like us, because it is well known that our church does not take sides with either of them. We believe that both groups of people are blessed children of God.
That’s it for yesterday! Hopefully I’ll get today’s post done on time. We’ll see how it goes. I haven’t yet gotten out of bed to know how I’m feeling. I think my voice may be completely gone today, but the rest of me is actually a little better.
