God is all powerful, but he cannot let his children willfully disobey his laws, or He would cease to be God. It is His righteousness we have been sent here to fulfill. We were not created to follow the vagaries and selfish indulgences of the natural man, and we will never find inner peace from doing so. 

1 Nephi 20:21–Compare Isaiah 48
