This was my sunrise today. It seems like the entire West is on fire these days, and smoke fills the air. The moon is red at night and the haze is thick during the day. I pray for those who risk their lives to fight these wildfires, and for all those displaced by them. Between the hurricanes and the flames, there are plenty of people who need our love, help, and prayers. It kind of gives new perspective on my week.
Sometimes things don’t go the way you hoped they would, and then frustration and awfulness happens. Sigh. Pick up the pieces and try again. Thank Heaven for tomorrows. Anyway, tough week. If not for my texting scripture study group, I’d be in super trouble. But we pray for each other, and they help me remember where I need to put my hope. They remind me that every day is new.
Hebrews 11
This chapter was a nice reminder about what it really means to have faith, and that sometimes we don’t see the outcome of our faith during our lifetimes. Sometimes we have to exercise faith because it will bless our posterity. It requires living with vision for the future.
“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
Hebrews 11:3 NIV http://bible.com/111/heb.11.3.NIV
“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
Hebrews 11:8-10 NIV http://bible.com/111/heb.11.8-10.NIV
