The Way He Loved Made Me Want To Be Better

I came across this praying mantis today on my way to a funeral. It was a good reminder – pray and trust God.

This was a difficult day for me. Today was the funeral of a dear friend who was one of the most Christlike people I have ever met. He died too young and left a loving wife and children behind. His passing has hit me hard.

Tom was a man who knew how to love his neighbor as Christ loves us. He knew how to walk the talk, and he inspired everyone who knew him to try a little harder to be a little better. His death has me looking inward for ways to step up my spiritual game, because I know that my friend Tom will always be found standing with Jesus Christ, and that’s where I want to be. I feel like I know Jesus Christ better because I knew Tom Scott. I feel the Savior’s love more because I knew Tom. And because I knew Tom, I have a greater desire to become more like Jesus Christ myself. He wasn’t perfect. Tom was just a man.

3 Nephi 27:27

God be with you till we meet again, my friend.

Psalm 15 “Lord , who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord ; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.” Psalm 15:1‭-‬5 NIV http://bible.com/111/psa.15.1-5.NIV
