Sundays can get so busy that it can be difficult to make time for personal study beyond whatever lessons I teach, and you know what? Sometimes I don’t. I’m glad to have a calling that requires me to delve and think about the principles of the gospel. Either way, our scripture study isn’t about getting through the scriptures. It’s about getting getting the scriptures through us.
The more I read the scriptures, the more I also feel the way Nephi describes them. It’s kind of an amazing experience to realize what a great gift they are.
2 Nephi 4
“For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them, and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children. 16 Behold, my soul delighteth in the things of the Lord; and my heart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.”

I really like the phrase, “[My] heart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.” Sometimes it’s really easy to study the scriptures, then set them aside and forget about what I learned. It’s important to ponder what I’ve learned as I go about my day. I can learn and retain a lot more that way.
