Extreme Forgiveness

Genesis 38-44

Reading the story of Joseph being sold into Egypt, I’ve become even more aware of what a mess his family was. His dad doted on him, all his brothers from other mothers hated him and he gets sold to idol worshiping people. But someone must have done a bang-up job teaching him how to live the gospel in the face of opposition. Was that Rachel, his mom? I think likely so. I’m amazed at how true he stayed to the Lord. He must have felt abandoned for all those years in prison, and yet he never gave up on God. To be sold into slavery by his brothers had to be the ultimate betrayal, but he forgives them everything.

“Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt.” Genesis 41:46 NIV
