It’s been an emotionally challenging day. My dad was admitted to hospice today. This is going to be a huge blessing for both him and my mom, who is is about ready to crack under the strain of caring for both him and my brain-injured brother. Still, taking the steps that indicate we are moving closer to the time we have to say goodbye to my dad for this life, is a hard thing. No one wants to say goodbye to a loved one. I think you never really feel like you have enough time or the right words to “finish”. We just want to imagine away the realities regarding the end of life for as long as we can.

“He shall deliver them from the wicked.” I always thought of this as referring to wicked people, but today I thought that maybe it could also mean the temptations and discouragement that Satan sends our way.
But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
