Saturday was inexplicably difficult for me. I was suddenly hit with a random wave of homesickness that was almost overwhelming and I’m still having trouble shaking it. I generally keep tight control over my thoughts when they start roaming towards the difference between where I am and where I want to be. I’ve enjoyed China and all the things I’ve been able to do, and learn, and see, and appreciate that never could have happened if we hadn’t lived here. Also, I have seen my children grow in ways that would have been impossible for them if we had stayed in the U.S.
I don’t know if Mr. Hot Stuff sensed my feelings or what, but Saturday night he handed me a jump drive with a ton of new music on it. One of my favorite’s on it is “My Paper Heart”, a Christian album by Francesca Battistelli. You should check her out. Anyway, I think he’s Mr. Awesomeness for doing that. Here’s one of her music videos:
The NaNoWriMo project is going well. I found the bad guy, launched an attack by mercenaries (that’s the word I was looking for the other day! have to remember it…), and used conveniently available herbs to patch everyone back up. Oops. I just realized I forgot to have our intrepid princess patch up the prisoners. I’d better go back and take care of that. maybe. Maybe the princess has a mean streak and won’t do that. Still, I probably shouldn’t just leave them tied-up and abandoned with their wounds… I made it to 23,438 words on Saturday so I was able to take a break on Sunday. Today I should reach the halfway mark.
Arctic Boy has been making lunch lately (I guess even teen-aged boys get tired of peanut butter eventually) and today’s photo is his creation. It was delicious! He says he could write down the recipe, but mostly he just follows in his Dad’s footsteps and pulled it out of his head. Did you know if you cook cucumbers with other food in a sauce that has garlic and dill and other miscellaneous seasonings, the cucumbers end up tasting kind of like pickles? It’s actually really good.
One month more till the re-migration.
Now, back to the book. I have some words to write!
winner-winner, chicken dinner 🙂
