Let me be clear. I am very grateful I do not have to do laundry in a tub or bucket. That said, I have to wonder if the Chinese could invent a washing machine that does not tie the clothes into knots. The fancy perma-wrinkle machine that we had at our old place was the worst because it tied the clothes in knots and then dried them that way. At least here, we are one of the lucky few who have a separate dryer (or any dryer at all), so the clothes can be untied before placing them in the dryer. Then they come out nice and soft and dry in an hour (instead of 3-5 days in the cold winter). Happiness!
