Some friends and I work together to help each other to be accountable to read from our scriptures every day. We text or email a snippet of what we read, and sometimes comment on our thoughts about it. This is how many of my blog posts originate. It’s amazing how much doing this changes the way I read. It also serves as a barometer for me, making me aware of how much sincerity I actually put into my devotional time each day. Honestly, lately it’s been pretty mediocre, there may be some legitimate reasons, but I am feeling the difference in my daily life, so I know I need to do better.
SPE. (This is our accountability shorthand for, “Today I read Scripture, Prayed, and Exercised – the exercise is a new addition for us and I’m finding it very helpful.)
Sometimes I really have to remind myself to shut up and let God take care of things.
“But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord . They will do no wrong; they will tell no lies. A deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid.” “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:12-13, 17 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/zep.3.12-17.NIV
